(Dating News) British World Superbike Championship round moves to Silverstone from Donington Park (Daily Telegraph)

The confirmation that the British round of the World Superbike Championship has been switched to Silverstone from Donington Park is the latest body blow for the beleaguered circuit which is currently in an unusable condition. Works had begun at the Leicestershire circuit ahead of the aborted project to stage the British F1 Grand Prix there but they ground to a halt with the failure to secure the necessary funding and the lease-holding Donington Ventures Leisure Limited went into administration in November – with debts estimated at some £20 million. The lease on Donington Park was returned, – just before Christmas, – to the land owning Wheatcroft family who are currently seeking a company to take over the circuit and return it to former glories, but, that has not happened in time for the organisers of the World Superbikes.
