Over the years, I also have facilitated the evisceration of a local man’s book of advice on how women can attract men, reported awful tales from almost every aspect of the dating scene, ineptly played matchmaker, provided dating tips and even written about long, happy marriages. Henry Seebald, an Allentown native who lives in Wyomissing, had purchased commemorative paving stones at the National Infantry Museum for himself and fellow Allentonian Kenneth Knoll, who had been in his 158th Infantry Regiment. This unexpected rekindling of family memories triggered exchanges of phone calls, letters and memorabilia, including two letters Knoll wrote from his hospital bed and the letter of condolence that Seebald wrote to Knoll’s widow. Seebald recounted stories about the amazing adventures of the 158th Regimental Combat Team known as the Bushmasters, as they traveled from Panama to Australia and from island to island in the South Pacific. read more
