Eventually, the band dropped out and Scott stopped singing, but audience members kept clapping the song’s beat and singing its key line — “Do you understand what you feel inside? It said a lot about Scott, who also performed at NJPAC Thursday night, that she was willing to end the show with a new song that was strikingly different from the neo-soul tales of love and loss that made up most of the setlist.
